Goterra is a Canberra based Ag-tech startup company building sustainable solutions to the critical global challenges of food waste and climate change. At our headquarters in Hume, we design and build modular robotic infrastructure (MIB) that uses insects to manage food waste. Our diverse, multidisciplinary team has expertise in engineering, manufacturing, software, electronics, agriculture and biology. We're expanding our operations and seeking a passionate and motivated Site Manager to lead our new team in Sydney.
As Goterra’s Site Manager you will oversee the management and maintenance of equipment and personnel in our Waste Operations team. Your responsibilities will include enforcing safety regulations, ensuring daily maintenance and hygiene tasks are carried out, and organising and supervising staff training. Ultimately, you will work directly with our waste operations staff to ensure they provide exceptional customer service and follow all regulations as required by our organisation.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Enforce all safety regulations and protocols
- Implement strategies to optimise workflow and operational efficiency
- Ensure that all equipment and machinery are properly operated and maintained
- Perform administrative tasks such as updating standard work processes and procedures and managing waste operations staff schedules
- Meet regularly with management to deliver feedback and develop work optimisation strategies
- Lead the team of Waste Operators in daily tasks, e.g. running the daily Team WIP, assist in creating the daily task list, and posting to the team channel on Slack
- Ensure the cleaning and maintenance of the waste management facilities and equipment to agreed standards
- Monitoring progress of daily tasks and outcomes and following up with the team as needed
- Ensuring daily maintenance and hygiene tasks are carried out by the team e.g. keeping the yard to agreed standards, assisting with loading and unloading tasks
- Ensuring that the team complies with Goterra guidelines, processes and procedures, e.g. ensuring all team members wash their hands regularly and use the correct PPE
- Abiding by Goterra values, and tenets
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties which fall within the remit of this role
Requirements
ROLE-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
- Relevant training and/or certifications in Work Health and Safety
- A valid Driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Possession of or working towards obtaining a Forklift License highly desirable
Experience:
- Experience as a Site Manager or similar role
Knowledge & Skills
- Good understanding of work optimisation techniques
- Good knowledge of applicable safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to manage your own workflow by moving between work stations throughout the day to ensure that the waste is processed efficiently
- The ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, e.g. some lifting up to 20kgs, being on your feet for the duration of the shift and working directly with food waste
- Digital literacy skills - a Smartphone is required to communicate with team members and for managing tasks through the applications Slack and Asana
